They planned for a summer wedding and August in Washington is gorgeous. However on Shannon and Kyles big day we were graced with Washington rain. Shannon didn’t care, it didn’t phase her one bit, she was excited and ready to marry her best friend. In some cultures rain is good luck, and can represent cleansing and a stronger unity in the marriage. This I can see for Shannon & Kyle!!
Shannon and Kyle were just friends in high school, however as Kirsten her maid of honor shared during her speech, Shannon had a plan in the back of her mind. She would tell everyone she was dating Kyle even though they weren’t dating. She even told Kyle they were dating when really they weren’t. This was to throw Kyle off. He didn’t know what was happening…and by the time they were really dating Kyle didn’t know how long it had actually been. Little did Shannon realize it may have backfired on her as her ‘dating but not dating’ game led Kyle to proposing and Shannon walking down the aisle to him! Either way they are now Mr. & Mrs. Whittier and happier than ever.
Shannon was like a giddy school girl getting ready. She didn’t care about the weather, she was truly excited to get her dress on and see her man. We still were able to have their first look outside and take in some of the scenic views Newcastle had to offer. She also opted to have a first look with her dad. Shannon is their only daughter and having that special father-daughter moment is priceless!
The ceremony was in a tent on the terrace. Although the fog set in the lighting was beautiful and Shannon looked radiant! Kyle could not keep his eyes off her and both of them were beaming! They lit a candle in memory of those that could not be there and have previously lost their lives. Kyle also carved a box that would hold a letter from each set of parents and a bottle of wine. On their 5 year anniversary they will open this box and share the wine, and read the words of wisdom and love from their families.
During cocktail hour the sky opened up and a bit of blue sky emerged. The terrace was the perfect gathering place for all the guests to mingle and enjoy horderves and drinks.
Sunset didn’t really happen that evening but the fog mixed with the Seattle skyline and the green rolling hills of the golf course provided a dreamy backdrop for these two. They ended the evening with a ton of dancing. The dance floor was constantly packed and everyone had an amazing time. It truly was a crowd that knew how to have fun and support Shannon & Kyle in their life together.
Kyle is in the air force so as they pack up and head back to Florida they are excited for their days ahead as well as planning a honeymoon when they have his schedule a little more solidified.
Shannon & Kyle you are energetic, loving and wonderful to be around. It’s obvious to see why you are surrounded by people who love and support you. Your families ooze love and we wish you all the best as you start your life together as husband and wife!
